提高英語口語的5大技巧：
第一，如何用英文簡單界定一個東西的技巧。美國人和美國人交談80%是想告訴對方這個事物是什么。我們的課本盡管詞匯難度不斷加深，但思維邏輯結構卻只停留在一個水平上。
第二，如果已經學會界定，但理解還有偏差，那就要訓練How to explain things in different ways(用不同的方式解釋同一事物)。一種表達式對方不懂，美國人會尋找另一種表達式最終讓對方明白。因為事物就一個，但表達它的語言符號可能會很多。這就要多做替換練習。
傳統的教學方法也做替換練習，但這種替換不是真替換，只是語言層面的替換，而不是思維層面的替換。比如，I love you(我愛你)。按我們教學的替換方法就把you換成her，my mother等，這種替換和小學生練描紅沒有什么區別。這種替換沒有對智力構成挑戰，沒有啟動思維。
這種替換句子的基本結構沒變，我聽不懂I love you，肯定也聽不懂I love her。如果替換為I want to kiss you，I want to hug you，I will show my heart to you等，或者給對方講電影《泰坦尼克》，告訴對方那就是愛，這樣一來對方可能就明白了。這才叫真正的替換。
也就是說用一種不同的方式表達同一個意思，或者一個表達式對方聽不清楚，舉一個簡單易懂的例子來表達，直到對方明白。

我們描述一個東西突然停住時，往往最后說的那個地方是最重要的。美國人在時間的描述上先把最重要的東西說出來，然后再說陪襯的東西。只有發生悲劇性的事件，美國人才在前面加上鋪墊。這就是中國人和美國人在時間描述上的巨大差別。
